He Knew His Angel Was Out There

Sandy wanted to date interracially, but found it much more difficult to break the ice in real life. Who knew if someone was open to it or not? “It was awkward meeting someone of another race in public,” Sandy confesses. But online, singles can determine right away if a person wants to date someone of their ethnicity. “It was easier meeting people who are serious about interracial dating,” notes Sandy.

Still, Sandy was “not very confident” about her prospects for love on or off the Internet. The man she would meet on her site had a more optimistic view. For Ronnie, it was only a matter of time before he made the right connection. It’s almost like he knew all along that Sandy was out there! “I knew I would find my angel,” he says.

Fittingly, that angel went by “halo1966” on our site. Sandy was a member for more than six months before Ronnie signed up. It took another three months for her to spot his profile and decide to give gender roles the heave-ho. She sent Ronnie a Flirt to let him know she was interested. What made her so bold? “He exceeded what my ‘type’ is,” Sandy says. And in this day and age, there’s nothing wrong with the woman making the first move.

Ronnie was sure glad she did. Looking at Sandy’s profile, he couldn’t believe his good fortune. He says it was “love at first sight.”

After emails fired back and forth, followed by getting-to-know you calls, there was no doubt about it—the chemistry was electric. In fact, the word Sandy uses is “explosive!” Ronnie declares that divine providence was involved. “I knew she was God sent,” he says.

Meeting face-to-face, there was no letdown on either side. Ronnie was charmed by Sandy’s “shy smile” and found her “very attractive.” Smitten, Sandy says her date was “Gorgeous! Handsome face and nice hair.”

Beyond the surface level, there was also a deeper connection that didn’t seem as new as it actually was. “I felt like I knew him forever,” Sandy tells us. Ronnie is in complete agreement. “She did not feel like a stranger,” he recalls.

After the magnificent success of Date No. 1, the only question was how soon could they schedule a second meeting? Ronnie felt certain that his patience had paid off at last. “I have waited so long for the right one to come along. I did not settle. She is so giving and knows what I need without me saying it!”

Ronnie is the kind of man who never takes his woman for granted. Sandy always feels special in his eyes. She says of Ronnie that “he is very attentive... He really pays attention to detail when it comes to me!”

Ronnie had no doubts about the long-term value of this relationship, so before long it was time to propose. Sandy says Ronnie was forthright about his feelings. “He said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me, and he wanted to know if I felt the same. I do!”

There were other singles Ronnie might have strung along or tried to convince himself were a good match, but he didn’t waste their time or his. He held out for something special, and it worked out. “Don’t give up and do not settle, no matter how long it takes to find the right one,” he tells our membership, with conviction.

Sandy acknowledges the cliché that you have to kiss some frogs before you find your prince. “It is possible! Sometimes you just have to weed through the wrong ones to find the right one.”

Perhaps the secret to success is a combination of never forcing a connection that isn’t there and taking as many shots as necessary before love’s arrow finds that bull’s eye. It did for Sandy and Ronnie!
